Honoré DE BALZAC – 1799-1850 – stayed about ten times at the Château de Saché – 32 km away from La Dixmeresse – between 1825 and 1848. He drew a lot his inspiration from this castle and its setting, the Loire, for his novel “Lily of the Valley”, whose plot takes place in the heart of the Indre valley. About ten other works have been written there, including “The Human Comedy” or “Old Goriot”.
